The Tralee Magic U16 girls delivered a fantastic performance at the St. Brendan’s Blitz, topping their group to secure a well-earned spot in the semifinals. The team displayed great resilience and skill throughout the tournament, competing fiercely against strong opposition.
Game 1 – Tralee Magic vs. Clare (9:30 AM) The girls put in a strong effort but were unlucky to lose against a well-drilled Clare team with a deep bench. With only seven players available, the Magic girls battled hard against Clare’s full panel of 12, who rotated fresh legs in throughout the short, fast-paced game. Despite the setback, the team remained focused and prepared for their next challenge.
Game 2 – Tralee Magic vs. Mallow (1:30 PM) In a brilliant display of teamwork and determination, the girls bounced back with a fantastic 27-17 victory over Mallow. They showcased the level of basketball they have been capable of all season, executing their plays with confidence and composure.
Game 3 – Tralee Magic vs. Fr. Matthews (2:50 PM) Another excellent performance saw the girls claim a hard-fought 25-22 win against a competitive Fr. Matthews side. The team found their rhythm, and their confidence soared as they progressed through the day.
Semifinal – Tralee Magic vs. Limerick Celtics Facing an exceptionally well-drilled and skilled Limerick Celtics team, the Magic girls gave their all in the semifinal. While they ultimately fell short, they managed to hold the Celtics to an uncharacteristically low score, showcasing their defensive strength and tenacity.
Overall, it was a fantastic tournament for the Tralee Magic U16 girls, who demonstrated incredible determination, teamwork, and growth. Topping their group was a testament to their hard work, and they can be proud of their performances throughout the day. Well done, girls!
