Club Aims

  • Provide the best possible working environment for all our members.
  • To ensure that all members of the club understand the ethos of the club.
  • To uphold the constitution and ethos of the club
  • To ensure that all parties players, coaches, parents and volunteers are treated equally and with respect .
  • To uphold the standards of the club on and off the court
  • To ensure the the progression of the club on a yearly basis

Our mission statement

Tralee Magic basketball club's mission is to teach, develop, organise, manage and offer youth players boys and girls as well as senior players the opportunity to learn the fundamental skills of basketball while instilling life-lessons and values such as character, team work, discipline, respect and sportsmanship. We also aim to compete both underage and at senior level on a local, national and international level. We plan to execute these aim by creating a happy, hard working, respectable environment for parents, coaches , volunteers and players alike.

In simple terms our ethos is:

  • Teach the fundamentals of basketball, make it fun and keep it fair.
  • To attain our goal we realize that we must put in place certain criteria that we expect from coaches, players and parents alike.

Coaches will endeavour to:

  • Create a positive atmosphere for players to learn, practice and play.
  • Keep abreast with current coaching and teaching techniques.
  • Continue their own coaching development by attending courses and grading.
  • Be kind and approachable.
  • Provide all players with the opportunity to learn and play.
  • Ensure each player feels an important part of the team.
  • Set Clear and achievable goals.
  • Be courteous, polite and respectful.
  • Use good judgement as to when and how to discipline.
  • Remain positive in all situations,
  • Treat all players equally.
  • Be a model good sportsman.
  • Remember that IT’S ALL ABOUT THE CHILDREN

Parents should try to:

  • Attend their children’s games whenever possible.
  • Support their child’s coach.
  • Cheer for all players on the team.
  • Be a positive role model.
  • Be there for when your child has success or struggles.
  • Look for opportunities to work with your child on the skills of the game.
  • Be positive and supportive whether the team wins or loses.
  • Communicate with the coaches in an appropriate manner.
  • Respect the referees, table-officials and volunteers.
  • Remember that IT’S ALL ABOUT THE CHILDREN

Players should try to:

  • Do their best, both in training and games.
  • Be on time for training and games.
  • Listen and learn from your coaches.
  • Keep calm even if you make a mistake.
  • Cheer on and support your teammates.
  • Hustle on and off the court.
  • Be a good sport at all times.
  • Respect referees, table officials and Area Board Officials.
  • Develop self-control.
  • Learn form both winning and losing.
  • Show respect to your teammates, coaches and opponents.
  • Always be positive and have fun.
