13/11/22 National Cup Qualifiers

Lee Strand Magic u18 girls played in Portlaoise at the weekend in the qualifying rounds of the U18 Women’s National Cup.

They had one win out of three in their pool, winning against Carrigaline and losing by small margins to the two teams who eventually contested the final, Ongar Chasers and Killester.

A special mention to Holly O’Brien who was top scorer in the pool averaging 19pts a game.

A great weekend of basketball and fun.

Coaches and management are very proud of these girls and how they played.

Limerick Celtics Pre Season Tournament

Lee Strand Magic U18 girls travelled to Limerick this weekend at short notice to take part in Limerick Celtics U18 pre season tournament.

We had two very rusty starts in our group games playing both Meteors and Brunell.

We finished in third place in the group playing some inspired defence but a bit shy on the offensive end.

This set us up for a quarter final spot against a Liffey Celtics side which included strong international players.

Our team had hit their stride by now and started to put up some nice scores while continuing the impressive hustle in defence against some quality players.
The game ended 43-30 to Liffey Celtics.

With a small panel and missing some key players, both injured and unavailable, we will take some encouragement but also some valuable lessons from a great day out for the team.
