Tralee Magic AGM 2025 – Looking Back, and Moving Forward
Held: Tuesday 27th May, The Rose Hotel

Last night’s Annual General Meeting marked a moment of reflection and renewal for Tralee Magic Basketball Club.

Acting Chair Cathy Williams opened the evening with a brief overview of the club’s activities over the past year—acknowledging both achievements and challenges. This was followed by a comprehensive and transparent financial report from our Treasurer, Veronica O’Hanlon, giving members confidence in the club’s financial standing.

Also presented was an outline of important updates to club policy, including new procedures around anti-bullying, complaints, and child welfare. These will be available online shortly and are part of the club’s ongoing commitment to providing a safe, inclusive environment for all.

Appointments to the incoming committee were unchallenged, with one nomination received per role. The new committee for 2025/26 is:

  • Chairperson – Roy Bowler
  • Vice Chair (Girls) – Jason Mitchell
  • Vice Chair (Boys) – Cathy Williams
  • Secretary – Joanne Crowley
  • Treasurer – Veronica O’Hanlon
  • Child Protection Officer – Nora Corridon
  • Welfare Officer – Michelle Flynn
  • Team Managers Rep – Helen O’Keeffe
  • Public Relations Officer – Eleanor Wall
The season ahead holds plenty of work—but also plenty of promise. To all new committee members: thank you for stepping up. And to those stepping down: thank you for everything you’ve already given.

Suzanne Grattan, stepping down as Secretary, gave a heartfelt speech about her time on the committee. She’s been the steady hand behind so much of the club’s day-to-day running—quietly dependable and deeply committed. Her contribution will be missed, as will her calm presence around the table.

Louise O'Connor, who has filled countless roles over the years, most recently Fixtures Officer, is also stepping back. Always ready to help, always dependable, she’s been part of the backbone of the club. She leaves with our sincere thanks for everything she’s given, and the friendships she’s built along the way.

John Dowlings valued contribution to the club over the years was aknowledged by all.  His support, sound advice, and behind-the-scenes efforts have made a real difference to the development of the club and we thank him sincerely for all he’s done, and continues to do, for Tralee Magic.

Their years of service are a reminder of the real impact volunteers have on the life of the club. By simply showing up and getting involved, they helped shape something bigger than themselves—and that’s something anyone in our community can do, if they’re willing to step forward.
