Lee Strand Magic 56-27 TK Cougars

It was a highly anticipated match in the Lee Strand Magic Under 14 Division 1 Girls basketball league as the Lee Strand Magic took on the Team Kerry Cougars.

The first quarter of the game was an intense battle as both teams went back and forth, with neither team able to take a decisive lead.

The score was tied at 13 points each as the first quarter came to a close.

However, the Cougars suffered a major setback in the second quarter as they lost a key player to injury, which affected their momentum and rhythm.

The Magic took advantage of the situation and settled into their stride, outscoring the Cougars in the next three quarters.

The Magic displayed a strong team effort on both defence and offence.

The top scorer for  Magic was Eimear Dillane, who had an outstanding performance and scored 10 points.

She was closely followed by her teammates who also made significant contributions to the scoreline.

In the end, it was a well-deserved victory for the Lee Strand Magic as they emerged victorious with a final score of 56-27.

The Cougars fought hard throughout the game, but the Magic's team effort and strong performance proved to be too much.

U14 Girls Invitational Tournament

Lee Strand Magic hosted a tournament, raising funds for Breast Cancer Ireland.

There was a fantastic atmosphere in the Kerry Sports Academy as eighth teams from Kerry took to the court - Lee Strand Magic, St. Brendan’s, St. Mary’s, Killarney Cougars, Glanmire, Ballincollig, Limerick Celtics and Moycullen.

As well as the basketball, there was a very busy shop, with baking and lemonade stand.

Our U14 Girls had two wins from three in the group stages and were runners up in the Shield final.

The overall cup winners were Limerick Celtics.

Thank you to the referees who gave their time, our friends at St. Brendan’s for lending us the extra equipment and to all the tournament sponsors including Sandy Feet Farm and Kingdom Constructions Group. It was a wonderful day which lifted everyone’s spirits.

A great start for the season.

Thanks to Limerick Celtics for hosting and the parents for travelling to support.

We look forward to host our own blitz in the coming weeks.
