The Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, Catherine Martin T. D. and the Minister of State for Sport and the Gaeltacht, Jack Chambers T.D. recently announced €16.6 million in equipment grants under the latest round of the Sports Capital and Equipment Programme (SCEP).

Tralee Imperials BC are delighted to be in receipt of over €6,000 through this SCEP.

It has been a particularly tough 18 months for all sports, especially indoor sports. While there may not have been indoor training, we had a very successful number of weeks before the summer break training outdoors.

It was wonderful to see the large numbers of players returning to the sport as well as many new members. Tuesday evenings were always buzzing with energy with all our young Academy members playing on the courts at Balloonagh.

Of course our ever growing numbers brings its own challenges and the grant money will be used to help us invest in our Academy, purchasing much needed equipment like adjustable height basketball hoops.

Tralee Imperials BC executive and coaches continue to work behind the scenes preparing for the upcoming season. We look forward to an update from the government and Basketball Ireland with guidelines on the possible return to indoor training.
