What a year 2020 has been. A global pandemic has forced social and sporting events to be postponed or cancelled and unfortunately basketball has been one of them.

Our season last year was cut short and our club executive worked hard over the summer in hope of a safe return to basketball this autumn. Some teams were lucky enough to get back on the court in October and despite the restrictions in place it was all smiles on the court. However, we are yet again without basketball.

The town of Tralee is synonymous with basketball and is embodied by the Superleague side, Garvey’s Tralee Warriors. There is a constant buzz around the town about the team and we were eager to see what the team would look like this season under the guidance of Tralee Imperials BC‘s very own John Dowling. The Sports Complex is the place to be on Saturday nights cheering on the local side where the young basketballers get to see their heroes in action.

Unfortunately that too has been impacted with the season being put on hold two days before the first Superleague game.

Just because we can’t all be together for basketball it is not going to stop us from playing the game we love.

This midterm break you can 🏀 ⛹️‍♂️ Hoop from Home ⛹️‍♀️ 🏡 with the Warriors. Follow Warriors on their social media platforms for guided basketball drills and skills with some of your favourite Warriors and meet the new players too. There will be daily competitions and challenges. Send us your videos or post them online and tag your club and the Warriors.
