Our U18 Division 1 team took on St Mary’s in the latest round of the county league.
Our attitude was right from the tip off and with Josh scoring 9 points in the first quarter we led 18-9 at the first break.
Our defense was intense and disciplined and we ran the floor well in the second period to lead 40-25 at halftime.
Aivaras and Roan carried the scoring load in the second quarter with the rest of the team playing very controlled basketball.
We extended our lead in the third with Oisin and Brian hitting some great scores.
The ball movement and patience on offense was a joy to watch and it was great to see the hard work the boys put in at training rewarded on game day.
Heading in to the fourth quarter we led 65-38.
Cian and Gearoid helped ensure we increased our lead further in this period with excellent defense and some nice assists on offense.
We finished up winners by a score of 88-54 with a tough game in Killarney next week against St Paul’s in the next round of the league.

29/01/23 League
St. Brendan’s 53-82 Lee Strand Magic
Our u18s took on St Brendan’s on Sunday 29th January in Moyderwell gym.
We started strongly with Josh and Brian scoring early to help us settle into the game.
Our defensive intensity and transition game helped us into an early lead but a strong finish to the first quarter from our opponents left us with a 21-14 lead at the end of the period.
Aivaras and Roan started to add to the scoreboard in the second and this along with a strong showing from Oisin, Cian and Gearoid coming off the bench meant we increased our lead to 46-27 by halftime.
Michael Tansley as always knitted everything together with tenacious defence and some intelligent passing on offence.
We continued to pull away in the third mainly behind a super shooting display from Aivaras and some excellent inside play from Josh.
At the end of the third quarter we led 72-44.
Everyone played their part in the fourth to ensure we ran out 82-53 winners.
Great credit to St Brendan’s who played hard right to the end and had some fantastic outside shooters on the day.
It was great to see the boys moving and sharing the ball on offense and the improvement from the start of the season is clear to see.
