Tralee Imperials BC were delighted to learn of the progress of three club members to the next stage of trials for national teams.

Holly O’Brien has been named on an extended panel by Ireland U16 Women’s head coach Andy Gill as he begins to make preparations for next summer’s FIBA U16 Women’s European Championships.

Tomás Kennedy has been named as part of a panel of 41 players for the Ireland U16 Men’s team. Former Garvey’s Tralee Warriors head coach, Pat Price, is head coach of the national side and our very own Jimmy Diggins has joined his coaching staff.

Aivaras Uosis, recent transfer to Tralee Imperials BC and member of the current Garvey’s Tralee Warriors panel, has been picked by head coach, Paul Kelleher, for the second round of selection for the Ireland U18 Men’s team.

We wish them all the best in the next round of trials which takes place later this month.

Anna Chute, Sophie Mitchell, Anna O’Sullivan, Anna Slattery and Priya O’Donovan have also been selected to be part of the Basketball Ireland U14 Girls South-West Academy. Skill development is the key objective for this age group and getting players ready for the advanced learning required for International Basketball.

It is an incredibly proud moment for the club to see our players and coaches involved in the national set up and is testament to the hard work they put in at training.
