November 2015. As if running a basketball club wasn't keeping everyone busy enough, Tralee Imperials decided to organise a fashion show too! 😅

And they didn't do it by halves!

The Fels Point Hotel (now The Rose Hotel) was the venue for a night that featured Paul Galvin's first Vanguard collection for Dunnes Stores, designs from Kerry's own Tina Griffin and Rebekah Wall, and clothes from a whole host of local shops.

Kerry footballer Kieran Donaghy was on best-dressed judging duties, with Orlagh Winters and Sarah Dinan helping keep things moving on the night.

And among those modelling on the night was our very own John Dowling!

Now, we're not saying this was the beginning of John's fashion career, but he did go on to build quite the reputation as one of Irish Super League basketball's best-dressed coaches.

Perhaps his time on the Imperials catwalk was where it all began. 😏

Behind it all was a serious amount of work.

Ursula Dowling and Grace O'Donnell were among those who put in the hours organising the event, with local businesses supplying everything from clothes for the catwalk to raffle prizes.

And there was a very worthwhile result from all that work, with €1,100 donated to Kerry Hospice from the fundraiser.

As we celebrate 25 years of Tralee Magic, we're finding that some of the best stories have very little to do with what happened on a basketball court.

They're about the parents and volunteers who somehow found the time, energy and enthusiasm to organise things like this alongside everything else involved in keeping a basketball club going.

And judging by this poster, the Imperials certainly knew how to put on an event!

Were you at the fashion show in 2015? We'd love to hear your memories. And if anyone has photographs hiding away, we'd be delighted if you could send them our way 💙
