Mounthawk School Gym was a busy place this morning., our U12 team hosted the #3 of our 25 anniversary celebrations, with the U12 boys taking centre court for a preseason tournament of their own.  With four young teams from four clubs and a Sunday in Mounthawk that was simply about giving these boys more basketball to play. 💙

The boys opened against St Brendan’s in a tough first game. Brendan’s got the better of that one and gave Magic an early measure of the level needed across the day.

The response was a good one. Wins over Limerick Celtics and Blue Demons followed, earning the boys another shot at Brendan’s in the final.

And the second meeting was a very different game. Magic were sharper, more competitive and gave Brendan’s a much tougher test, eventually finishing as tournament runners-up.

What stood out was the difference between that opening game and the final. The boys got another look at the same opposition and showed just how much they had adjusted over the course of the tournament. 💙

Congratulations to St Brendan’s, our tournament winners, and well done to our Magic boys on their runners-up finish.

The Plate final brought plenty of drama too, with Limerick Celtics and Blue Demons going right to the buzzer and Demons taking it by a single point.

A special thank you to Limerick Celtics and Blue Demons for making the trip to Tralee. Both U12 teams brought great energy, plenty of good basketball and a brilliant attitude to the day. We really appreciate the distance travelled by both clubs to join us.

And finally, thank you to the coaches, referees, table officials, parents and volunteers who gave their Sunday to make the tournament happen. The basketball belongs to the boys; the day itself takes a whole club. 💙
