What a brilliant day for our U11 boys, who took part in the Spring Super 6 Series in Killarney today.
With Jacko on Warriors duty for the Super League quarter-final against Γanna, Nora stepped in to coach the team, and the boys responded with a terrific display from start to finish.
After a tough U12 league campaign this year, where the group often found themselves up against bigger, older and stronger opposition, today was a much fairer measure of their ability as they were finally competing against boys of their own age. The improvement in the team was clear to see, and it was fantastic to watch them get a couple of well-earned wins under their belts.
They opened the day with a great win over Killarney Cougars Red, before backing it up with another excellent victory against Blue Demons A. Those were two very tight games, but the boys showed great composure and teamwork to come out on top in both.
Their third game against Blue Demons 1 just didnβt go their way, with Magic narrowly losing by four points, but the effort and determination on show were outstanding.
That performance saw the boys progress to the knockout stages, where they battled all the way to the Plate Final. In another hugely competitive game, they were unlucky to lose by just a single point, but they can be incredibly proud of what they achieved.
Every player showed huge heart, teamwork and determination throughout the day, and they left everything on the court. Most importantly, they got to experience the reward that comes from sticking at it, improving, and playing with confidence.
A special mention too to Tadgh, who was named MVP for Magic at the medal presentation β a lovely moment for him and for the team.
Huge thanks to Killarney Cougars for organising and hosting such a fantastic day of basketball.
These boys are learning, improving and growing all the time β and today was a great reminder of that π
