It’s home games only — and it makes a massive difference to how smoothly our match days run.
What’s it all about?
- Scorer
- Timer
- Shot clock
- Because it’s one of those roles that quietly screams “I’m reliable” without you having to say it 😅 - it looks great on a CV / college application. It demonstates you’ve done something that involves:
- ✔️Responsibility & trust: You’re part of the crew that keeps a live game running properly — people depend on you to show up and do it right.
- ✔️Attention to detail: Scores, fouls, periods, possession, time-outs… small mistakes matter, so you learn to be accurate.
- ✔️Staying calm under pressure: you continue your task while coaches, players, and parents are losing their minds!
- ✔️Teamwork & communication: You’re working with refs and the other table officials, passing information clearly and quickly.
- ✔️Timekeeping & organisation: You’re literally managing the game clock/shot clock and tracking key game events.
- ✔️Commitment: It shows you get involved in your community and stick with something beyond your own game.
- For employers, that translates really well to jobs in retail, hospitality, childcare, coaching, admin — anywhere that values reliability, focus, and working well with others. And it’s a nice talking point in an interview because it’s specific and real (“Here’s what I did and why it mattered”).
- ✅️Gives you a behind-the-scenes understanding of the game (which actually helps your basketball too)
Don't worry about making a mistake
We’ll train you, support you, and you’ll get better with every game. Basketball can feel like our whole world (especially on match day!), but let's keep it in perspective — at the end of the day it’s a game of basketball. Nobody’s going to die and the gym is not going to burn down because the wrong button got pressed once. We’re looking for willing people with good energy — the rest comes with practice 💙
Why It’s Good For Parents/Guardians
If you’ve been wondering how to help out without taking on a huge commitment, the table is ideal — it’s home games only, it keeps match day running smoothly, and once you’ve done it a couple of times it’s genuinely enjoyable (plus you’ll understand the game so much better from that seat). 💙
✅️You’re right in the action (without coaching): Best seat in the house, and you’ll understand the game way better — fouls, time-outs, possession, shot clock… it all starts to click.
✅️It helps your child (and their team) in a real way: Games run smoother, tip-off isn’t delayed, and it takes pressure off the same small group of volunteers every week.
✅️Home games only: No travelling, no big time drain — just showing up for our home fixtures and doing your bit.
✅️It’s a nice way to connect: You get to know other parents and supporters, and match day feels more like you’re part of the Magic setup, not just watching from the sideline.
✅️It’s low-stress once you learn it: It looks intimidating until you do it once or twice — then it becomes routine (and we’ll make sure you’re not thrown in cold).
✅️Sets a great example: Kids notice when adults step up. It quietly builds the “we all help” culture that makes a volunteer club work.

If you’ve ever found yourself watching the clock (or shouting “SHOT CLOCK!” from the sideline 😅), this is right up your street. We’d love to build a small, reliable crew for home games only — so everyone isn’t doing everything. Jump in, get trained, and be part of what makes match day feel properly Magic 💙
