Tralee Magic U16 girls put in a strong, disciplined performance on their home court in Mounthawk, running out 58–29 winners in a game that placed real emphasis on development and shared minutes.

Magic made an excellent start, building a 23–0 lead by the end of the first quarter through high energy defence and unselfish offence. That early advantage allowed for player rotation from the outset, with all players getting plenty of court time and younger girls lining out together for extended spells throughout the game, confidently holding their own.

St Brendan’s responded well in the second quarter, taking it 18–12, but Magic stayed composed and continued to focus on execution and teamwork. The third quarter proved decisive, with Magic outscoring Brendan’s 15–4, tightening defensively and capitalising on good decision-making at both ends of the floor.

The final quarter (8–7 to Magic) remained competitive, with Magic continuing to work through their sets and close the game out in a controlled manner.

A notable feature of the contest was the very low foul count on both sides, reflecting excellent discipline, defensive timing and respect for the game — a really positive sign at this level.

A special word of thanks to Ava, who stepped up from U14 and slotted in seamlessly, showing great energy, confidence and maturity.

Overall, this was a real team performance on Magic’s home floor, based around learning, trust and players growing together. Thanks to St Brendan’s for the game and to the officials for their work on the day.
