Quarter-Final Preview – Title Defence Continues
Tralee Magic vs Killester | Sunday 7 December | 2.00pm | Mounthawk
Our U20 women are back on Cup duty – and this time, they’re defending their National Cup title on home court, and our girls will be out to keep their hands on the trophy for another year.
We’re turning this one into a full family occasion, with something for every age to enjoy alongside a huge game of basketball.

Champions Back on Home Floor
Last season, this group showed exactly what they’re about – toughness, composure and big performances when the pressure hits. They climbed all the way to the top of the U20 National Cup, and now they’re back, trying to do it all over again.
They’ve already opened this year’s campaign with a statement win, combining aggressive defence with fast, fearless offence. The scoring has been spread right across the roster – O’Sullivan, O’Brien, Teahan, Lucid, O’Donovan, Creedon, O’Mahony and the rest of the squad all stepping up in different moments.
This is a group that knows how to share the ball, trust each other and close out big games. They’ve done it before on the biggest stage – and they know every Cup game is must-win.
What to Expect on Sunday
Killester will arrive motivated and organised, but Magic will look to set the tone early:
- High energy on defence
- Quick decisions in transition
- Smart execution in the half court
With a deep rotation and plenty of experience from last year’s Cup run, our girls will want to turn Mounthawk into a tough place to play – and that’s where the crowd comes in.
Special Half-Time Guests
We’re going full game-night experience for this one.
●Live singing of the national anthem to set the tone
● Club Colour Face Painting

● At half time, we’ll be joined by some very special guests: Minnie, Daisy and Goofy will take to the court with our u10 girls. They'll be in the hall to meet the kids, add to the fun and keep the energy high while the teams regroup in the locker room.
It’s the perfect chance to make a full family afternoon of it – big kids watching top-level basketball, little ones getting photos and high-fives, everyone in the same place shouting for Magic. If you’ve younger players or brothers and sisters at home, this is the ideal game to bring them along and let them make some noise and soak up the occasion.
Choose Blue for an Hour
There’s a lot happening around town in the run-up to Christmas – lights, markets, shopping and Santa everywhere you look.
But for a couple of hours on Sunday afternoon, we’re asking our members, players and families to press pause on the Christmas chaos, throw on something blue and get to Mounthawk for 2.00pm to back the girls.
They’re defending a National Cup title. They’re doing it in our gym. And the one thing they can’t bring themselves is the noise.

Our U20s have already written one incredible Cup story. Now they’re trying to write another – and let there be no doubt the club is behind them 💙
