Tralee Magic’s U12 Division 1 girls made the trip to Currow on Tuesday evening and came home with a 30–18 win after a really honest, hard-working game from both sides.

St Bridgets started well, moving the ball and attacking the key, and they created plenty of good chances around the basket. Early on, though, the shots just wouldn’t fall for them and a lot of those efforts bounced out. Magic gradually settled, found their range and built a 16–8 advantage by half time.

After the break the game tightened up. The third quarter finished 5–2 to Magic, with both teams digging in defensively, contesting rebounds and scrambling for loose balls. St Bridgets kept running their offence and continued to get clean looks – on a different night a few more of those shots would have dropped and the pressure would really have come on.

The final quarter was the most open of the game, ending 9–8 in Magic’s favour as both teams pushed the pace and looked to run the floor. St Bridgets were rewarded for their persistence with some well-taken scores, while Magic showed good composure and unselfish passing to see out the contest and seal the 30–18 result.

It was very much a collective effort from the girls in blue, with contributions right across the roster on both ends of the floor. The work-rate from our girls was outstanding from tip to buzzer, and you can see the improvements week on week in their spacing, decision-making and confidence on the ball. St Bridgets deserve huge credit for their attitude, effort and willingness to keep playing positive basketball right to the final whistle.

Thank you to St Bridgets for hosting in Currow, to the referees and table officials for their work on the night, and to all the families who travelled to support the teams. 💙
