What a weekend of basketball for our U18 Girls, who represented Tralee Magic with heart, skill and serious determination at the National Cup in Limerick.
Five games in two days tested every ounce of focus and resilience, but this group rose to the challenge — delivering four superb wins and a place in the Pool 3 Final against the hosts, Limerick Celtics.
From the very first tip, Magic looked composed and confident. Wins over St Paul’s Killarney (59–22), Waterford Wildcats (94–30) and Boyne Warriors (77–38) showcased their fluid team play and defensive discipline, before a tough semifinal victory over Dundalk Ravens (81–69) secured their place in Sunday’s final.
In the final against Limerick Celtics, Magic went toe-to-toe with one of Ireland’s most consistent underage teams. They trailed by just two ath halftime after a powerful first-half performance but were eventually outpaced in the closing quarter, falling 83–64 after an incredible effort.
Muireann Teahan led all scorers for Magic with 20 points, attacking with composure and intent, while Priya O’Donovan added 17 — continuing her outstanding all-round play throughout the weekend. Anna O’Sullivan (10) and Emily Flynn (5) added key baskets, and Sophie Mitchell, Aimee Turner, Evie O’Sullivan, all contributed with hustle, smart passing, and defensive pressure that kept Magic in every contest.
A standout highlight came when four of our players — Priya O’Donovan (3rd overall), Muireann Teahan (4th), Emily Flynn (7th), and Anna O’Sullivan (9th) — finished among the Top 10 scorers across the entire National Cup competition, an incredible achievement and a reflection of the talent within this squad.
Every player gave everything across the weekend, proudly representing Tralee Magic on and off the court.
What’s next?
We’re on the road to Kilkenny Wildcats for the Quarter-Final — another big stage for a group that’s growing every week!
Massive thanks to Limerick Celtics for hosting such a well-organised and enjoyable event, and to our valued sponsors TCC Construction for their ongoing support of our U18 girls programme.
