Match Report – U12 Girls Division 1
St. Colman’s V Tralee Magic

The U12 Girls tipped off their Division 1 season on Monday evening with a tough road test against a strong and well-organised St. Colman’s side. The scoreboard didn’t go our way this time, but there was plenty to admire in a determined Magic performance that showed heart, teamwork, and glimpses of what this group is capable of as the season unfolds.

For many of the girls, this was their very first taste of top-division basketball — and they rose to the challenge with energy and persistence. The opening quarter saw some excellent defensive hustle, with players quick to get back in transition and contest every loose ball. As the game progressed, Magic began to find their rhythm — showing good spacing on offence and starting to move the ball with purpose. There were some great moments of teamwork in the second half, including strong rebounds under pressure and several drives that just narrowly missed dropping.

Coach Roy praised the team’s attitude and work rate: “This is where learning happens — we’ll keep building, keep improving, and keep playing the right way.”

As LeBron James once said, “You can’t be afraid to fail. It’s the only way you succeed.” This group has just begun that journey — and if their spirit and effort in Milltown are anything to go by, there’s a lot of success ahead. 💙
