It was a weekend of highs and lows for the Tralee Magic U14 Boys as they closed out their first-ever campaign in Division 1 of the Kerry Airport League.
On Saturday, the team delivered a passionate and determined performance to come out on top in a thrilling local derby against St. Brendan’s. The atmosphere was electric, with the boys showing grit and teamwork to secure the win in front of a supportive crowd. The victory was a proud moment for the squad and one that will live long in the memory.
Less than 18 hours later, however, they faced the toughest challenge of the season — league leaders St. Mary’s — in their final home game in Castleisland. Despite a courageous effort and a never-say-die attitude, Tralee Magic came up short against a strong and undefeated St. Mary’s side. The boys gave it their all, but the quick turnaround proved too much against such seasoned opposition.
The weekend results marked the end of what has been a hugely encouraging season. Tralee Magic finished 3rd in the Division 1 table, an outstanding achievement in their first year competing at this level. With 7 wins from 11 games and a positive point differential, the team proved they belong in the top tier of Kerry underage basketball.
A huge thank you goes out to coaches Daire and Paul for their incredible commitment, guidance, and passion throughout the season. Their dedication to developing the boys both on and off the court has been key to the team’s progress. A special word of thanks also to team manager Dawn, for her work behind the scenes.
The experience gained this year — from tight wins to tough losses — will be invaluable as the players continue to grow and develop. The future is bright for this talented group, and the club is immensely proud of their progress, attitude, and spirit.
Well done, Magic — this is just the beginning!
