Our U14 Division 1 boys kicked off the weekend in style with a brilliant 55–44 win over local rivals St. Brendan’s yesterday evening. The always-lively Moyderwell gym provided the perfect setting for a tough, high-energy derby—full of noise, intensity, and two teams giving it their all.

After a steady start, Magic found their stride in the second quarter, outscoring the hosts 16–12 to take a narrow lead into halftime. The third quarter proved to be the turning point, with the boys stepping up defensively and continuing to move the ball well on offense. Another 16 points on the board and strong defensive pressure kept St. Brendan’s from gaining momentum.

In the final quarter, Magic showed great composure and teamwork to see the game out. They matched Brendan’s intensity and finished strong, adding another 17 points to seal the win. The scoreboard tells the story—6 in Q1, then 16, 16, and 17—showing just how consistent and balanced this performance was across the four quarters.

But it wasn’t just about who scored the points. Tralee Magics hustle,  help defense, smart passes, and  cool heads under pressure gave them the edge. On top of this, the win was built on full team effort. Scoring was shared, players stepped up in key moments, and the bench brought great energy. Whether it was rebounds, steals, or clutch baskets, everyone played their part.

This was, without question, the boys’ standout performance of the season. The progress they’ve made was clear for all to see. It’s obvious they’ve been putting in the work and developing week by week under the guidance of Coaches Daire and Paul. The effort is paying off, and the belief in themselves is growing stronger with every game. As Kobe Bryant once said, “Great things come from hard work and perseverance. No excuses.”—and this group is starting to live that out on the court.

A big thanks to the referees and table officials for keeping the game running smoothly, and to St. Brendan’s for hosting the fixture in great spirits. It was a proud evening for Tralee Magic—full of teamwork, grit, and heart.

Attention now turns to the final game of the season. Today will be a tough challenge against St. Mary’s in Castleisland. If last nights performance is anything to go by, this team will be ready to give it everything once again. Best of luck to the lads!
