Tralee Magic vs. Cobh | Friday, March 28 | 8pm| Mounthawk Secondary School

A historic weekend awaits in Tralee as Mounthawk Secondary School hosts its first-ever U20 Women’s National Cup Semi-Final, with the home side Tralee Magic taking on a high-scoring Cobh outfit in a clash of two unbeaten teams.

With a place in the National Final on the line, this is one of the most significant games ever played by a women’s team from the club—and one of the last remaining fixtures across all age groups this season.

It’s an occasion worthy of strong club support—players, coaches, families, and supporters alike.

Form and Results

Tralee Magic have made it to the semi-final unbeaten, combining strong defense with balanced scoring. They opened the campaign with a 55–38 win over Malahide BC, then followed up with a hard-fought 61–55 victory against Kilkenny Stars in front of a home crowd at Mounthawk.

The team averages 58 points per game (PPG) and concedes just 46.5 points per game (OPPG), with a team 2-point shooting percentage of 47.5%, and a solid 70.3% from the free throw line.

Cobh, however, have posted some of the most eye-catching results in the competition. After edging Belfast Star 52–48, they overwhelmed Fr. Mathews 77–32 in their second outing. Their scoring average stands at 64.5 PPG, with just 40 conceded, and they lead all semi-finalists in free throw percentage (75%) and scoring differential (+24.5).

By the Numbers

The match-up sets up as a true clash of styles: Cobh’s pace and firepower versus Tralee’s defensive structure and home-court presence.

Players to Watch

Holly, Priya, and Muireann have been ever-present for Tralee and consistently productive across both ends of the floor. Emily, Rachel, and Kellie have also played key roles in a rotation that has shown depth, composure, and chemistry.

For Cobh, Francesca has emerged as the competition’s standout scorer, recording over 26 points in under 20 minutes in one game alone. Supported by Leah, Sally, and Ruby, she leads a unit that thrives on tempo and aggressive offense.

A Big Night for the Club

This is not just another fixture. It’s a semi-final in a national competition—on home court, with a trip to the final at stake.

The players have done their part—two wins, disciplined performances, and a place among the last four teams in the country. Now, as they prepare for their toughest test yet, the presence of club members in the stands could make all the difference.

Support on the night would mean a lot—not just to the players, but to the club’s continued growth and visibility in national competitions.
