The U12 Boys Team 2 took to the court for the Bruddy Burrows Tournament, facing some formidable opponents throughout the day. Though the results didn’t go our way, the boys showed resilience, teamwork, and a fighting spirit that deserves recognition.

We kicked off the day against a well-drilled Limerick Lyons side. The team started strong, keeping their composure and working hard on both ends of the floor. Despite their best efforts and a determined second-half push, the Lyons edged ahead by three or four baskets in the final moments.

Next up was a clash with Neptune, who proved to be a powerhouse on the day. The boys battled bravely but found themselves up against an opposition that was simply too strong. Missing one of our key corner players made rebounding and help defense a challenge, but the team stuck together and gave their all.

That led us to the Plate Semi-Final against St. Brendan’s 2. With a few more players unavailable, the remaining boys dug deep and put in a tremendous effort. It was a tight contest from start to finish, with both teams matching each other basket for basket. Right up until the final seconds, it could have gone either way, but Brendan’s just managed to edge ahead to claim the win.

A huge thank you to St. Brendan’s Basketball Club for hosting a fantastic tournament. The boys gained valuable experience and had a great day of basketball.

A special shout-out to Roy from Sandy Feet Farm for keeping the team hydrated and energised with refreshments throughout the day. Your support is truly appreciated!

And of course, a massive thank you to our parents—for your encouragement, support, and commitment. Whether it was cheering from the sidelines, helping with logistics, or keeping the spirits high, your role in these tournaments is invaluable. Your dedication means everything to the team!

Finally, a heartfelt thank you to Coach Erica for her unwavering support and dedication to the team. Her patience, guidance, and positive encouragement have been instrumental—not just during this tournament but throughout the entire season. She has helped the boys grow in skill and confidence, always pushing them to give their best while fostering a love for the game. Her commitment and passion for coaching have made a real difference to the team.

With the season coming to an end, summer is a great time to keep up the practice and enjoy basketball—whether it’s working on shooting, dribbling, or just playing for fun. Putting in a little extra time over the break will help build skills and confidence for next season. Stay active, keep playing, and we look forward to seeing everyone back on the court ready to go!
