With a number of our players unavailable our U18 boys travelled to Cork for the annual Michael Heffernan preseason tournament attended by the top teams from around the country. We were drawn in a tough group with UCD Marian, Galway Titans, Neptune of Cork and Ballina. After a close battle in our first game we just edged out Marian of Dublin 37-36. The highly fancied Galway Titans were up next and we were only 6 points behind at half time. With only 6 players the boys tired in the fourth quarter and Galway ran out deserving winners. Our 3rd game against Neptune was a real see saw battle which was in the melting pot until the final seconds. Our hosts held on for a 52-48 win. In our final game against Ballina we put in our best performance and with only five players available due to injury we showed fantastic spirit and determination to dig out a 37-34 win. This was a great experience for the boys and should stand us in good stead for the season ahead. Well done to Josh, Johnny, Will, Ryne, Jamie and Conor who showed fantastic character all day. Their work ethic was amazing and they can be very proud of their days work. Thanks also to Sandra and Stephanie for providing transport and to coaches Paul and Dave.
